Circularity re-envisions our buildings as renewable resources in themselves: from the material extracted, craftsmanship applied, passive performance and opportunities for disassembly and re-use. In light of the growing climate crisis and energy scarcity, we consider this approach critical as we adapt to a Post-Oil / Post-Consume era.
The Circular Studio engages with the built substance of our profession – targeting wasteful linear practices to create healthy, beautiful and lasting places. Semester long projects are often combined with participatory workshops and Design-build seminars. The Circular Studio is overseen by Wayne Switzer and is nourished by a variety of international collaborators.
